Why Do We Use The Rogue Echo Bike?

In CrossFit our movements come from 3 main areas, gymnastics, weightlifting and mono-structural exercise.  Mono-structural exercises refers to metabolic conditioning activities such as running, skipping, rowing, and the Rogue Echo Bike!

Have you ever used the Rogue Echo bike for a workout? I’m sure you’ll remember if you have! We use them all the time, often 2-3 times a week. Find out why we love them and the benefits.

Why is the Echo Bike so special?

The Echo Bike is awesome for metabolic conditioning, as it can help break through plateaus in your training. If you are looking to increase your aerobic capacity the Echo Bike is a great way to incorporate interval training to build your it, without losing strength and muscle mass.

For those who have issues with the more traditional running and rowing conditioning exercises due to injury or limitations the Echo Bike is a great way to modify that movement in your workout.  If you have a lower-body injury, the Echo Bike provides a good option to continue training. The Echo Bike allows for safe movement with little to no impact. The injured area will receive blood flow to aid in recovery while not making the injury worse.

Mental strength. The Echo Bike can also enhance your mindset, if you have ever used the Bike at high intensity, you would understand it is a challenge and can test you out. Maintaining a positive mindset through exhaustion and fatigue will lead to dramatic improvements in one’s fitness

Time and duration. For those looking for some real HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workouts the bike is one of the best pieces of equipment. The level of intensity that can be exerted on the bike is hard to replicate in any other area of the gym. Try hitting the ‘Inverse Tabata’ button – 8rds of 10sec of work, 20sec rest. Challenge yourself to stay consistent over the 8rds 

Active recovery. Mobilization can benefit your recovery if it includes smashing or rolling out sore spots but increasing blood flow to different areas of the body can also benefit your recovery. You can get the blood flowing by going for a walk or even a ‘light’ row, but the Echo Bike can be another great tool for recovery. Pick an easy / moderate pace that will get your heart rate going for at least ten minutes next time you are wanting to just move on a recovery day.

One thing is for certain the Echo Bike is here to stay! The quicker you get comfortable on the bike the easier it will be.

The bike awaits 🙂
